Insulating Lining Paper

Does Insulating Lining Paper need to be hung any special way?

No you can hang Insulating Lining paper either vertically or horizontally. We recommend that the wall is pasted, polystyrene applied directly to the wall, and time to set is 48 hours.

When Applying Insulating Lining Paper, do I need special adhesive?

Yes,  we recommend the use of Wallrock Thermal Liner Adhesive only, as it has been tested to hang Insulating Lining Paper. There are many other adhesives which may work but have not being tested.

How much Thermal Liner Adhesive will 1 roll of Insulating Lining Paper use?

On average, when applying Insulating Lining paper on flat surfaces, about 2kg of Thermal Liner Adhesive is required,  for damaged and textured surfaces about 3kg. *Typical coverage may vary depending on application*. We recommend the use of Wallrock Thermal Liner Adhesive only.

Before Applying Insulating Lining Paper, what product would I use to fill the joints?

Before applying Insulating Lining Paper, we recommend you use a flexible non shrinking decorators caulk or similar good quality non shrinking filler.

Do I paste the wall or the Insulating Lining Paper?

Insulating Lining Paper is a ‘Paste The Wall Product Only’. We recommend the adhesive should be applied with a roller directly on to the wall.

How do I tackle external corners with Insulating Lining Paper?

Well you have 2 options with Insulating Lining Paper as it will bend around the corner which will give you a rounded corner. Alternatively, you can cut and butt joint at the corner, and this option is best if you are applying a Wallrock Lining Paper or Wallrock Textured paper on top, as it will hide the joint.

Can I paint directly on to the Insulating Lining Paper?

Yes, the surface paper of the Insulating Lining paper is actually a non-woven Lining Paper.

Can I hang Insulating Lining Paper on ceilings?

Yes, so before applying Insulating Lining paper, you must lightly sand the ceiling and size with a PVA or Flake Adhesive, this will form a good surface for the Thermal Liner Adhesive to adhere to.

Why do you recommend lining over the top of Insulating Lining Paper?

Two main reasons for lining over the top of Insulating Lining Paper –  1) Makes it much easier to achieve a nice neat finish with minimal filling and sanding. 2) It helps your investment from damage creating a good base for paint or decorative wallpaper at the same time.

Important – If you are planning to hang lining paper on top of Insulating Lining Paper, we strongly recommend that you use a non-woven lining paper such as Wallrock Fibreliner Plus, Wallrock Fibreliner or Wallrock premium.

Traditional lining paper shrinks and expands when pasted and can cause lifting on the joints In contrast, non-woven lining paper is dimensionally stable and ensures a perfect finish.

Before Applying Insulating Lining Paper, do we need to take off the existing wallpaper?

No, if the existing wallpaper is firmly stuck to the wall then the Insulating Lining Paper should cover it.  recommend that it is taken off before applying the Insulating Lining Paper. 

Before applying Insulating Lining Paper, I have some really bad textured walls do I need to take special precautions over such poor surfaces?

Not really, just make sure the walls are clean, dry and solid before applying Insulating Lining Paper. If the texture is very deep as with some decorative plaster effects it is advisable to sand down the high points and use extra adhesive to help level the surface. We would advise that after hanging the first drop stand back and make sure the results are satisfactory.
